Mike Kowis,
I used this practical guide to plan a recent vacation trip with my spouse to Alaska and found it very informative and helpful。 I brought it with me on the trip and it came in handy several times。 For example, we discovered on the last day that our return flight was delayed, so we had some extra time to kill。 We referred to this guide and then visited the Alaska Zoo and Potter's Marsh。 Without this guide, we probably would have just wasted time by driving around the area or sitting in the airport I used this practical guide to plan a recent vacation trip with my spouse to Alaska and found it very informative and helpful。 I brought it with me on the trip and it came in handy several times。 For example, we discovered on the last day that our return flight was delayed, so we had some extra time to kill。 We referred to this guide and then visited the Alaska Zoo and Potter's Marsh。 Without this guide, we probably would have just wasted time by driving around the area or sitting in the airport。 While most of this book's descriptions seemed accurate, it seemed to over-hype (or leave out negative issues) for a few places or things to do。 For example, we took the Ghost Tour of Anchorage and found it to be only mildly entertaining b/c the tour was mostly about the history of the area and not very scary at all。 This guide described the tour as equal parts of history and entertainment/ghost stories, but I'd say in reality it was heavy on history and lightly covered some interesting murder mysteries or ghost sightings。 Also, we didn't care for our visit to Fairbanks at all。。。 the city seemed old, run-down, industrial and had large homeless population roaming around。 I wish the book had stated that and we would have avoided spending a day there (to be fair, it probably makes sense to visit Fairbanks in the winter if you want to see Northern lights, but I don't recommend it in the summer)。 Overall, I liked this guide and found it helpful。 。。。more
Richard Edwards,
A good reference for travel to Alaska。 The itineraries are generally for longer trips than many people can afford。
